Casting for Anastasia Steele

Mags has been quoted in an MTV article about the casting of Anastasia Steele.  She would like to see Lily Collins.

I know a lot of names have been thrown around who are actresses who are playing along side actors who are being considered for the role of Christian.  I don’t want to see Fifty Shades of Grey turn into Vampire Diaries the movie or Twilight for adults.

    I love TVD/Twilight/True Blood but personally I think the actors in Fifty should be completely different!Someone the other day mentioned a guy called Oliver Jackson Cohen and after seeing pictures of him on google I can totally agree :) as for Ana…. im really not sure!

    OMG….I am on chapter 18 of Shades of Grey…I cannot put it down. Wow I am shocked I am so into it. I would say that whomever plays Christian has to be late 20′s, very much in shape, have gorgeous face, and intense eyes that can communicate a feeling or a thought with one look. I read the comments here and believe it or not, I think Gabriel Macht would be a good choice. I watch the USA show SUITS and he has the presence that Christian has…and those Intense Eyes!!!

    I dont know why but i always pictured Christian Carargo…slap some contacts and he has the right hair buikd and height… n he doesnt look his age…but of course any other tall light eyed and dark hair sex god would do lol…Anastasia has to be a lil less fragile than Lilly Collins…and more mentalky strong…Alexis Blidell maybe or i like Maggie Grace (taken)…some bluish contacts (hers are hazel green) and darken her hair n she is good to go!

    I think Alexis Bledel would be perfect for Anastasia. She’s pretty much who I pictured while reading. As for Christian, I think any number of actors would do him justice, I just hope they stick with someone young enough for the role.

    Ian Sommerhalder, or Chase Crawford are both beautiful and can play up the bad boy aspect as well for Christian’s character. Anastasia’s perfect fit is Emmy Rossem, I truly can’t picture anyone else. She is physically the same with some blue contacts, she would be perfect. If anyone has seen Shameless…She is obviously not afraid to show her sexuality. Though, I think HBO or Showtime should make it into a series. They can get away with a little more ADULT content, and let’s be real, this is an adult novel and not intended for the same crowd as Twilight was. Either way, I think they should steer clear of casting any of the twilight actors, and have their own individuality, because their target audience will be much more diverse than that. Hunger games was taking heat for not including some of the Twilighter’s and look how well they did in the box office. I am looking forward to the reveal of the Fifty cast! Laters Baby!

      Yes I agree. Ian has more of the evil bad boy look & not enough of a versatile look for the boyish side of Christian. As for Matt he fits the looks & is a beautiful man but I can’t see him playing the darker side of Christian or the dominant in th red room. He is more good funny guy to me. Henry Cavill is a better choice at least for me anyway & he has the resume & experience even as a dominat & can pull off boyish & pained as well. As for Ana I think Alexandra Daddario fits the description & has an innocent beauty but can be played up sexy. At 26 she looks 22 & has the maturity for the steamy scenes.     William Levy would be PERFECT as Christian!!! Maybe Zac Efron as Elliot. Latersbaby has an IMDb link to a young actress named Bella Heathcote (but not in the poll?)whom I think looks just like how Ana Steele is described by Christian…right down to the full bottom lip (very important as we all know). I think it’s important that the story sells itself witout being oversold with too many big star names cast in the movie. I can’t wait!

    Michael Fassbender or Ian Somerhalder as Christian and either Emma Stone or Alexis Bledel as Ana. I mean Michael is a bit old to play a 27-year old Mr. Grey but I think he could totatlly pull it off… Especially after watching “Shame”… Ian on the other hand is younger and very sexy as well… His character in The Vampire Diaries, Damon, is pretty similar to Christian… the famous smirk is there for sure. Emma and Alexis are fun, fresh but at the same time really pretty, plus they are both very good actresses. I can totally picture them as Anastasia Steele. As in for Mrs. Robinson I think Kim Catrall ought to play the part. She is perfect for it. Someone suggested Charlize Theron. She is stunning but I don’t see her as a freaky Dom. :)

    As I read all of the books I could not get MATT BOMER out of my head. He has the build, the intense stare, looks great in a suit, and could be oh so capable of the raw sexual attraction/desire necessary for this role. I am a Twilight fan, but agree that these books should not be Twilight/Vampire Diaries for Adults. These books are MUCH MORE than that.

    I can think of noone else since I saw him. He is it! I agree the accent is a problem, but for the fame he would get playing the part…he can find a way to lose it! It would be worth it! Watch him in his spanish soap operas…he’s amazing!

Alexander Sarsgard as Elliot, or Taylor (I cant decide which way to go on that one) I think Kate should be a real stunner like Rose Hunington Whitley or Anna Lynn McCord. I like Diane Lane as Grace too! I just hope this movie really goes through. They may have to turn it into a HBO series due to the TOTALLY adult content the book has. I mean we want to see it with all the raunchy details, or we wouldnt be fantacizing about the perfect cast to act out all the juicy bits, right?

    Christian Bale is my first pick for, of course, Christian! After seeing him in American Psycho I think he can definitely pass as a billionaire CEO, has killer looks head to toe, and won’t have a problem with the “kinky f***ery”. He also does angry very well. He’s just so damn sexy and an incredible actor. Second choice I see is Bradley Cooper.

    I just finished reading the book, and have moved on to Darker. When I think of Christian, I see William Levy. I just don’t know if he can lose the accent that quick, but I prefer the accent anyway.

    So i saw the imdb page for chris zylka and he is really good looking and is in fact the right age, but looks quite young, if they were to cast such a young looking christian the ana chatacter had better look even younger, and then it may look like she is TOO young (if you catch the implication) and that can turn off just about anyone interested in the possibility of the movie. They need to cast a leading male that looks like a man in his early thirties, and a female lead who looks like a 21 year old college girl. There are so many choices for it all, but i think IF it happens, they will chose nobodys in the industry and hope for the cult following like the other recent books to movie followings! The books are so over the top sexually that I am not sure how this project will go. It may be TOO sexually explicit that it may fall through all together :( I sure hope it doesnt but if a movie doesnt happen maybe a movie channel can pick up the rights to it and make it a series with a MA (mature adults) rating. that idea is quite an entertaining notion. They can get away with more graphic sex scenes that a R rating would allow.

    I didn’t picture anyone in particular for Christian while reading. I regarded him more as a mythical creature. I wasn’t familiar with Matt Bomer before I read the books, but he’s pretty much what I envisioned. And Felicity Jones as Ana. She’s got spunk.

    I don’t like Alexis Bledel or Emmy Rossom AT ALL. Ana is supposed to be 21! Bledel is in her 30s and Rossom is 28. Christian is supposed to be 27. Hollywood needs to start casting people that at least LOOK the age of the characters. I love Sarah Paxton for Kate, Elizabeth Olsen for Ana, Lucy Hale for Mia, Charlie Hunnam for Christian (google him without the sons of anarchy beard and long hair and in a suit- looks perfect imo), michelle pfeiffer for elena, matthew davis for elliot, marcia gay harden for mrs. grey, jeff bridges for mr. grey, randy couture for taylor, & ben foster for jack… phew that was long, sorry!

    I’m not a fan of Alexis Bledel’s acting and she’s way to old to play Ana. She’s 30. Ana needs to be played by someone who is young and innocent looking initially like Lily Collins or an unknown. Emy Rossum is too old too. I like Oliver Jackson-Cohen for Christian. He is a solid actor, is 6’3″, and is 26. Michael Fassbender and Christian Bale are way too old for the role an they both are not attractive enough.

    I was all for this becoming a movie, but i think it should be made into an HBO Cinimax or Showtime series! They can get more down and dirty that way. I want sex sex and did I mention SEX? With 3 books for material and the author stating she is NOT against the possibility of another book… there is plenty to base a series on. I love the S&M prospects on a series, they just cant do that in a movie with an R rating and if they go full force and get an NC17 rating it will drastically limit the theaters willing to showcase it as well as the audience willing to go to a theater and view a movie with a rating that holds that sort of stigma. I want to see who they cast for all the parts, but iI just hope that the producers decide that they will have more creative leeway if they go for a series instead of a movie. It is only my opinion, but I hope others sound off about it too. Maybe we can sway them in some sort of way. I just know I want it to have as much graphic detail as the books depict!!!!!

    Matt Bomer HAS to play Christian Grey, there is no other option! For Ana, I think I’m leaning toward Emmy Rossum but Im still considering Lucy Hale and Jessica Stroup. Julianne Hough for Kate or Amber Heard as a backup option. Channing Tatum would be the perfect Elliott and Wilmer Valderama for Jose. I know she’s not quite old enough but I think Charlize Theron would be an AMAZING Mrs. Robinson! As for everyone else… I’m still brainstorming but I don’t think they necessarily have to be household name actors.

    Definitely Matt Bomer as Christian Grey and Alexis Bledel for Ana Steele!!!!

    Matt is already used to playing a bad boy character who is good at manipulating situations and people. Just watch him in White Collar. And who could play innocent, impressionable but silently resilient better than the chick from Gilmore Girls!!!!

    Of course nothing will match up with how I imagine them in my head but these two would be fireworks on screen.

    Henry Cavill IS Christian Grey! His Dunhill Black ads on youtube SCREAM Fifty! & run like a mini 50 Shades movie. He has the looks,theeyes,the bod,boyish smile & sexy smirk. He looks great in a suit & can be classy & businesslike, sweet yet domineering. He already has played a greek god & looks like one. On Tudors. He has played seductive,domineering.’weet,playful,classy & pained.he also had no problem with the nudity or steamy scenes. He has done it all & fits every description for Christian & has the resume to prove he can play all 50 shades of him as well. No other actor to me has all that is required like he does.they either look like the description,but have not played all sides, or might be able to act the part but don’t fit the description.Henry has the whole package like no other. As for Ana, I think ALEXANDRA daddario fits the description to a tee. The long brown hair,alabaster skin.piercing blue eyes to big for her face & perfect lips for biting. At 26 she looks 22 & has an innocent beauty about her requiring no makeup as Ana rarely uses but her look can be played up sexy when need be. Also she is mature enough at her age to handle the steamy scenes. Ana might be 22 in the book but I think they should hire someone older who looks the age just because of the explicit content. They would look great together!

    Words could not express how perfect I am for the role of Ana. As I read the book I think about how much we are in sync.
    1. I fit her description for looks perfectly.
    2. Our views on relationships, love and men are the same (referring to the beginning of the first book)
    3. We both waited quite sometime for our virginity to be taken. (Although I still have mine.)

    Ian Somerhalder has got to be Christian Grey!! As soon as I saw a photo of him, he was the closest to what I imagine Christian to look like. Definitely no Bella or Edward, it would ruin it. Ryan Gosling’s name is mentioned a lot too, however I feel Ian Somerhalder to be much more charasmatic and “Christian” like.

    My choice of actors are Alexis Bledel for Ana (I didn’t really think so at first but then came to the realization that she’d be perfect for it) and as for Mr. Grey, I could really picture Collin Egglesfield. He might be a bit older, but could definitely play the part (I would’ve NEVER guessed he’s 39) and I think he has the perfect eyes and facial to express all that is Christian Grey. I just really hope they won’t cast Ian Somerhalder. His face annoys the hell out of me! (sorry for the fans and to Ian, I just can’t help it loool) Anyhow, I can’t wait too see who will be the chosen ones! :)

    When I read this book the only person I imagined as Christian was Alex Skaarsgard!he is perfect! And for Ana I think lily Collins has the right amount of beauty and innocence..anyone suggesting mila kunis obviously misinterpreted the role of Ana as she is far too sexy and always cast as this man eater type party girl

    The only woman I can see playing Ana is April Washko. She’s fairly unknown, sure, but a) she shouldn’t be, b) she fits the look/age, & c) she’s beyond talented. Look her up, people! You’ll see it! She looks like she’s able to pull off tons of different ‘personas’. I think alot of Ana and her ‘Inner Goddess’, if they showed mirror reflections of Ana’s inner thoughts. April could do that, no doubt. That, and I feel like it needs to be someone ‘new’, ‘fresh’, ‘raw’…. Well… Okay… You know what I mean.

    I got the perfect pair. Ian Somerhalder (as everyone has been saying- and has also implied he would take the role on Ryan Seacrest) and Evangeline Lilly. They have already worked together Evangeline is more what Ana looked like in my head than a lot of these ”sexier” actresses. Anastasia is shy and sexy and Evangeline Lilly is both.
