Last night Mags and I attended the E. L. James book signing in Union Square, NYC. We had a great time. First, it was great to meet some other fans and talk about the books. A couple of you have already been to the site, welcome back! And welcome to all our new readers! We know you all enjoyed it too.
Mags and I arrived very early, around 3pm with seating opening up just before 4pm. This gave us plenty of time to meet people and talk. MTV and the staff from Katie Couric’s new show were there meeting with fans. We also met one of the bloggers from BTB, a blog about Twilight, Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Being newer readers of the Fifty Shades series it was nice to meet someone who had been reading it when it first came out as Twilight Fanfiction, she also introduced us to some of the early fan pics that had been created. Made for an interesting night!
Mrs. Robinson made an appearance, she was the woman running the event. She even brought her own riding crop! She was a nasty woman who stood in front of me when I went to take a picture of Mags with E. L. James, a candid like SHE told us we were ALLOWED to take. Ugh!

E. L. James was WONDERFUL though. I fell in love with her when I saw her on the 20/20 interview a few weeks ago, she is such a normal person. She still is, and it was even more evident at the book signing. She spoke like a regular woman who fell into success and is still a relatively normal person. She made us laugh and cheer and 20 minutes went by in a flash. And for a woman who was at the end of her book tour, she was friendly and gracious while signing books.

| EL James’ reaction to the SNL skit! |
The interview style with Dr. Levkoff was fun and easy. Although I’m sure they prepared, there was a conversational style to it. E L James mentioned that she has a special play list for writing her sex scenes, on that list is Sexy by the Black Eyed Peas. When she goes home, she’s going to sleep and get her kitchen redone. Her inspiration is Stephanie Meyer, her husband and children.
Her parting words to us were “We’re going to make a movie” YEA!
I also have a video from the event, sorry about the shaky cam.
