The Sweet 16 of Anastasia Steele Actresses

For those of you who are basketball fans, you know all about March Madness and the Sweet 16.  It’s the top 16 teams in college basketball playing to see who is #1.  You’ve probably seen the brackets for it with the 8 teams on each side, winners of each game moving on to play other winners.  Here’s a link to the brackets from last year if you need a visual.  For the Sweet 16 of Ana we want to find what actress the fans want to play Ana in the Fifty Shades movie.

In no particular order, here are the brackets for the Sweet 16 of Anastasia Steele:

Here is how this will work, we will post a debate for each of the pairs, Alexis Bledel vs Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried vs Lucy Hale, etc.  The winner of each debate will go on to be debated by the winner of the neighboring debate.  Winner of Alexis Bledel vs Emma Watson will go against the winner of Amanda Seyfried vs Lucy Hale.  We will post 1 debate a day and each debate will last for 5 days in the first round.  We will likely increase that as we get further into the tournament.

Let us know if you have any questions about this process in the comments section.  Thank you and good luck to the actresses.

Synopsis of the News Part 2

I thought I would do another round of the crazy stuff that’s in the news. You can check out my original Synopsis of the News too.

Justin Bieber claims to have been offered a role.  My inbox was stuffed with articles about Justin Bieber being in the movie, I only read one article before I realized Bieber is a hard limit.

Chelsea Handler is going to write a spoof about the books.  This is apparently big news but since… I have no idea who she is so I’m not sure why.

E L James didn’t mention a screenwriter on Katie Couric, so obviously they must already have one, and a full script to go with it!  Well there goes my theory about Emma Watson’s comments meaning nothing since there isn’t a script to see. (She’s been saying that she’s flattered but hasn’t scene a script yet)

Miley Cyrus has kinky sex with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, it’s not the Christian Grey type of kinky, they like to do it in weird places.  TMI!

There is a group of people who think Fifty Shades of Grey is about a pedophile.  I’m embarrassed to say I read enough to know that it’s because Ana is written like a teenager.  I’m even more embarrassed that I took the time to mention this in a blog post.

Rob Pattinson joked about being offended that E L James said she doesn’t want him (because of Twilight) in the movie.  Too bad she didn’t actually say that.

Kristen Stewart is now saying she wants to be in the movie.  Really?  After all these months and her bad reading from the book. And after E L James apparently said she didn’t want her or Rob?

J K Rowling said she isn’t interested in reading Fifty Shades of Grey. Yea, like the mother of Harry Potter was going to admit to that publicly!

Fifty Shades of Grey Casting Rumors

Emma Roberts is interested in being in Fifty Shades of Grey.  Maybe she should read the books before she throws her name out there….

Perez Hilton reports that Chris Pine says he’s interested, then clarifies that he doesn’t actually know anything about the book other then lots of woman are reading it.  But then on Jay Leno he said he wouldn’t do it but went on to answer questions about being nude in the film.  I think he’s confused about what he wants to do.

Mark Wahlberg doesn’t think his wife will let him play Christian Grey.  First he let Universal get the rights to the movie, and now his wife is in the way of him being in the movie.

Kristen Stewart is not ruling out playing Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey.  This is not my news, I’m not excited about it either.  But it’s out there.  Note, she hasn’t finished the book yet.

Right after I posted this I saw another article/video with Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth talking about Fifty Shades of Grey.

Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

MTV interviewed Stephanie Meyer and she doesn’t seem to mind the success of Fifty Shades of Grey even though it started as Twilight fan fiction.  He hasn’t read it though.

From CBS News we have some cute anecdotal stories about getting caught reading Fifty Shades of Grey, this might make some of you who have gotten caught feel a little better.

MTV has a new interview with Kristen Stewart, with a follow up on her reading of Fifty Shades.  She still hasn’t re the books and at this time is not expressing interest in doing the movie.  I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief!

The cast of Snow White and the Huntsman read Fifty Shades of Grey

Oh, MTV, you have done it, you have gotten Kristen Stewart to read Fifty Shades of Grey!

I still don’t want Kristen Stewart or the Twilight cast doing Fifty Shades of Grey, but it was good to see Kristen Stewart finally reading the book.  It is kinda about her after all.

Chris Hemsworth was a bit too shy, I think we can cross him off the list now.  Besides, he’s a bit to rugged for Christian Grey.

But I truly enjoyed Charlize Theron’s reading.  More and more I’m thinking she could be a great Mrs. Robinson.  She’s 36 going on 37 and although I picture Mrs. Robinson a bit older, it can totally be done.  If anyone has seen her in Monster knows she can act her ass off and be old, ugly and haggard.  In Monster Charlize Theron played a skanky, butch, run down serial killer.  She could so be a Dom! The only problem, it’s a small role and Mrs. Robinson isn’t even seen in the first book, but that could be fixed with a good screen writer.

Sam Claflin does do sexy, and he does bite his lip.  How about he play Anastasia.  Or maybe Elliot?

Thank you everyone who posted about this in the comments, I did see it Monday afternoon and posted it on Twitter.  But it takes a little longer to get these things up on the site if I want to make semi intelligent comments.

A Synopsis of the News

Everyday I read articles about Fifty Shades of Grey, it’s been interesting!  I do NOT post most of what I read, it’s either repetitive, boring, or just plain old bad writing.  Some articles I walk away from mad and insulted, others shaking my head, sometimes laughing.  But sometimes the comments are the most interesting.  I thought I would share some of the highlights of what I have read, purely off the top of my head.

Fifty shades of Grey is smut, porn, erotic, a love story, a manual on sex.  It teaches woman to be submissive and allow men to control them.  Stalking is ok.  Woman are dumb for reading this either because the writing is so bad or because the story is so bad.

Oh, and some have said it objectifies men too.  My head is spinning!

The writing makes Stephanie Meyer’s writing look good.  But ironically another article analyzed the writing and found it was an 89% copy of Twilight.

Feminists think we’re taking a step back – allowing a much older man take advantage of a young woman.  Gosh, my Dad is 7 years older then my mother, what does that say about my Mom?

HE has a Red Room of Pain, never mind that SHE named it that and he never thought of it that way.

Kim Kardashian can read, but has only flipped through the books.  I think this is important since Kim Kardashaian and Fifty Shades of Grey in one article will drive a lot of traffic to your site.

Ian Somerhalder has actually started reading the books and is still interested in playing Christian.  Nina Debrov hasn’t ruled out playing Ana, but doesn’t think she should be playing opposite Ian.  Ryan Seacrest is enjoying the books.  I wonder if he’ll find a way to get himself into the movies as a cameo role?

There has been an increase in the sales of silver balls and other sex toys.  Or you could just go to a Fifty Shades of Grey party/demonstration event.

Christian’s don’t think Christians should be reading the books, something about it being against the bible.  Of course the most ardent supporters of not reading it are the ones who haven’t read it.

Fifty Shades of Grey is about a sex slave.  Huh?

Libraries are confused.  Some are banning, others have long wait lists and are ordering more books.

Kristen Stewart heard about the books from Robert Pattinson, is interested in reading it, but isn’t admitting to reading it.  She’s also not commenting on playing Ana.

Some news outlets are posting so much about Fifty Shades of Grey that the readers are getting sick of it, and think they’re just trying to drive new traffic to their site.

A lot of time is spent trying to figure out why woman like the book – the sex, we’re feeling less repressed, we’re feeling empowered, escapism, we want to be controlled by men.  The reasons go on and on.  In the end, they’re all trying to figure out what makes us tick so they can figure out what the next big thing will be.

Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

I guess the National Enquirer was having some fun making up some drama about Fifty Shades. Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – oh the triangle they wove!

MTV has caught up with Ian Somerhalder (Thursday) about playing Christian Grey, he is still interested and it selling his acting experience.  While he’s not my first choice, that would be Colon Egglesfield, I do think he has the skills and looks for it.  I wouldn’t be disappointed.

Here’s a blog about some other “twisted” romance movies.  I’ve never seen any of these, I’m thinking this might be an interesting research project.  Have you seen any, do you see the parallels?
