Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

MTV interviewed Stephanie Meyer and she doesn’t seem to mind the success of Fifty Shades of Grey even though it started as Twilight fan fiction.  He hasn’t read it though.

From CBS News we have some cute anecdotal stories about getting caught reading Fifty Shades of Grey, this might make some of you who have gotten caught feel a little better.

MTV has a new interview with Kristen Stewart, with a follow up on her reading of Fifty Shades.  She still hasn’t re the books and at this time is not expressing interest in doing the movie.  I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief!

The cast of Snow White and the Huntsman read Fifty Shades of Grey

Oh, MTV, you have done it, you have gotten Kristen Stewart to read Fifty Shades of Grey!

I still don’t want Kristen Stewart or the Twilight cast doing Fifty Shades of Grey, but it was good to see Kristen Stewart finally reading the book.  It is kinda about her after all.

Chris Hemsworth was a bit too shy, I think we can cross him off the list now.  Besides, he’s a bit to rugged for Christian Grey.

But I truly enjoyed Charlize Theron’s reading.  More and more I’m thinking she could be a great Mrs. Robinson.  She’s 36 going on 37 and although I picture Mrs. Robinson a bit older, it can totally be done.  If anyone has seen her in Monster knows she can act her ass off and be old, ugly and haggard.  In Monster Charlize Theron played a skanky, butch, run down serial killer.  She could so be a Dom! The only problem, it’s a small role and Mrs. Robinson isn’t even seen in the first book, but that could be fixed with a good screen writer.

Sam Claflin does do sexy, and he does bite his lip.  How about he play Anastasia.  Or maybe Elliot?

Thank you everyone who posted about this in the comments, I did see it Monday afternoon and posted it on Twitter.  But it takes a little longer to get these things up on the site if I want to make semi intelligent comments.

Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

I guess the National Enquirer was having some fun making up some drama about Fifty Shades. Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – oh the triangle they wove!

MTV has caught up with Ian Somerhalder (Thursday) about playing Christian Grey, he is still interested and it selling his acting experience.  While he’s not my first choice, that would be Colon Egglesfield, I do think he has the skills and looks for it.  I wouldn’t be disappointed.

Here’s a blog about some other “twisted” romance movies.  I’ve never seen any of these, I’m thinking this might be an interesting research project.  Have you seen any, do you see the parallels?

Casting for Anastasia Steele

Mags has been quoted in an MTV article about the casting of Anastasia Steele.  She would like to see Lily Collins.

I know a lot of names have been thrown around who are actresses who are playing along side actors who are being considered for the role of Christian.  I don’t want to see Fifty Shades of Grey turn into Vampire Diaries the movie or Twilight for adults.

Who would you like to see?

Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

Another story where I wonder if the writer read the story.  Or does anyone else think that Fifty Shades of Grey is about control?  But the author is right, feminists probably should not read Fifty Shades of Grey.

Mags got quoted in a new article from MTV about whether the movie should have an R-Rating, and if they can pull it off.  You’ll have to read for her point of view.

E. L. James will be on The View on Friday, check out your local ABC channel for viewing.

The Movie: R or NC-17?

Mags got quoted in a new article from MTV about whether the Fifty Shades of Grey movie should have an R-Rating, and if they can pull it off?  You’ll have to read for her point of view.

I think NC-17 would work better, and the rating is fine for the audience.  But I can understand that it might push some actors away from the film.  Either way, I think there is room for some interesting deleted scenes on a DVD.

What do you ladies think?

50 Shades of Grey in the Media

Glamour ran a story about men reading 50 Shades of Grey, they seem to like the same things that woman do.

Florida’s Brevard County is pulling 50 Shades of Grey out of their library system, but don’t worry, they still have The Hot Box available.  I’m going to guess that’s not a book about ovens…

E.L. James talks about her research of the books.

E.L. James in People. Her red room of pain is actually pretty painful – it’s for ironing!  But she’s not commenting on the casting of the movie, be we are….

And I actually did enjoy the article put out my MTV News that quoted Mag’s and I.  We discussed the casting of Christian and Ana.  What we’re looking for, and why I might or might not like to see.  We would love to hear your comments!
