It’s time for another giveaway, this one inspired by “old” songs on a long car ride.

I’m a bit of an 80′s girl and Mags is more of a 90′s girl.  So we thought it was time you hit up your ipods and find some songs from those decades that make you think of Christian and Ana.

Instructions:

Comment on this post with your 80′s or 90′s Christian & Ana inspired song by 8 AM EDT on May 30th and we’ll pick at least one winner submitting an 80′s song and one winner submitting a 90′s song.  Please include the name of the song, artist and if you know, the decade it came from.

You may submit multiple entries as long as they are for different songs.

When you log into Disqus please use an account that you regularly monitor. If we don’t hear back from you within 7 days of announcing winners we will award your prize to another entry.

This contest is only open to US residents (or those with US addresses). Though we are happy to hear from people all over the world.

Fifty Shades of Guy Stuff

In the UK a guy named Dave started a blog about Fifty Shades of Grey from a guy’s perspecitve.  I haven’t read the whole blog, he’s not a fan of the books, though in my conversations with him he says he is obsessed.  He’s a guy, and writes from a guys perspective, duh! He’s not much of a fan so don’t expect him to go on about how he loves the book. I did have some laughs at his analogies, but he’s also a bit crude at times.  Some of you will have a laugh at it and some of you will hate it.

Here’s a YouTube Parody – Fifty Shades of White Trash it’s a low budget parody of Fifty Shades with some “white trash” woman writing their own version of the book.  It’s not really my style of humor, but there are laughs to be had.

Gary Steer, a poet and UK resident, has written a book, 50 Shades of Gary.  It’s 50 poems about 50 frames of mind in his life after suffering a brain injury in 1993.  His intention is to inspire people with his journey from being told he’ll never walk to becoming a poet and author.

Also for YouTube, we have a Fifty Shades of Grey Thriller.  This probably accurately portrays how men imagine the scenes in the Red Room of Pain

Over at SoundCloud SeanAMcGee has created an unofficial soundtrack for 50 Shades, it has a great build up.

Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

This is a FANTASTIC article from the San Diego Reader about the use of Thomas Tallis in Fifty Shades of Grey.  It’s not just a pretty song…

Here’s a Washington Post article about EL James at Comic-con.

The Sun has a fun article where some writers did some rewriting of famous works, making them a little more fifty like.

As for the rest of the news, I can’t bring myself to post about Robert Pattinson wanting to lick the pages of Fifty Shades of Grey.  I think it was a joke, but I didn’t get it.  Nor can I lead you to read about how Channing Tatum would do the movie, with his wife…  Really, that’s not even funny.  I don’t want to watch real couples having sex, but fake ones from books!  I also refuse to look at some drama where some guy dumped brown stuff or gravy on his girlfriend because she was reading Fifty Shades of Grey.

Ana’s IPad

Not that I picture Christian as a “boy band” kind of guy, but I’m sure he’ll have heard the song “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction and I think he’ll add it to Ana’s playlist on her IPad.

Think about it, she’s always so nervous and looking at her hands, lacking confidence in her beauty.  In turn Christian is always telling her how beautiful she is.  I think it would be a perfect addition to her IPad.  Or maybe he finally got her an IPod so she can listen in her R8.

Fifty Shades of Grey in the Media

An animated video of Fifty Shades of Grey.  It’s not really work safe, I could tell I was looking over my shoulder at work to make sure no one saw what I was watching ;)  The music is creepy.

A nice, spoiler free, review of Fifty Shades Darker.  My review is that even on the third read I had trouble putting it down.

A radio station has created a list of videos/songs for you to listen to while reading Fifty Shades and stuff…
The inclusion of Father Figure creeps me out a bit, I think I’ll have to listen to the song before I pass judgement.
