As Mags will tell you, I’m usually pretty on top of things, and I’m usually setting crazy goals for myself for the new year. Nope, no resolutions for me, I set goals. I mean really, how many times have you said, “I’m going to lose weight” or “I’m going to save more money” and then failed? The stats on New Years resolutions is that 75% give up by the end of the first month.
Anyway, I’ve set myself 11 or 12 goals for 2016, some are fun, some are serious and are part of much bigger life goals (hey, I can retire in 3 and a half years, I need to start planing for that). And some reflect regrets for things I didn’t achieve in the past.
As you prepare for 2016, have you set yourself any goals (or resolutions)? Is there anything you didn’t achieve or get to do in the past and regret?
Here’s the challenge I have for you in 2016, if you have something you didn’t get to do or just want to do. Set yourself a goal to do it. You want to meet Dakota, Jamie, E L James – set that as a goal and figure out what you need to do it. You don’t live in an area where they frequent? Then save money to take a trip to go where they are – a movie premiere, or a book signing. Stop buying Starbucks (I’m talking to myself), or another pair of shoes you don’t need. Every time you pick something up to buy, ask your self, do I want this more than that trip to see____?
Instead of spending 2016 being jealous of people who are doing the things that you want to do, spend 2016 doing those things that people are jealous of!
I wish you all a happy, healthy and productive 2016!
And if I motivated you to set goals and want some tips, let me know and I’ll share some In the meantime a quick set of rules – they should be specific, time bound and measurable. Examples: I will lose 15 pounds by April 1, 2016. I will save $3,000 by December 31, 2016.
