UPDATE – Thank you to 50 Shades Girl Portland, who contacted and Andrew Arlie, who then confirmed he joined the crew of Fifty Shades of Grey. You can read more about his thoughts on his blog post for Spring 2014.
Today on IMDB Andrew Arlie showed up as playing Carrick Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey. For those of you who do not know, anyone with an IMDB Pro account can add stuff like this and pretty much anyone can get an IMDB Pro account. So, I do not consider this confirmed/official information. Though, I doubt someone did it as a joke either. Hopefully someone from Team50 will confirm it soon.
In the meantime here was some interesting trivia from IMDB (answers will be at the bottom of the post): Andrew Arlie made guest appearances on what three of the longest running North American science fiction series?
Andrew is 52 years old, which seems about right. He was born in Scotland which is not surprising with all the UK ties in the film. The films he is best known for are 50/50, fantastic 4 and Apollo 18. But he seems to have done a lot of TV: Reign, Once Upon A Time (I wonder if he crossed paths with Jamie Dornan), House, Fringe, Monk, and many, many more TV movies and series!
He has worked on a lot of different projects and I think would be an asset to the franchise.
Don’t take this the wrong way. BUT, with all the secrecy surrounding the casting of Carrick, I was expecting a VERY BIG name for the role, one that they could announced and wow the fans with. So while Andrew seems like a nice fit for the film, he’s not the WOW I was expecting. My other thought was that it was a no name actor that no one noticed showing up on set, he’s certainly not that either. Either way, if this news is true, I wish him the best of luck.
If and when this is confirmed I will update this post (or if it takes a long time, I’ll just write a new one.)
The X-Files (1993), Stargate SG-1 (1997) and Smallville (2001)
