May 27-29 I attending Book Expo America in New York City. It was a great conferences for book lovers. Book Expo America is the professional end of the conference, I attended the book blogger portion of the conference and went to a few author signings.
At one of the blogger panels I got to meet the lady behind Official Fifty, she was an absolute sweetheart and it was great to put a face with the name that sent so many wonder emails to us. She does seem to think that Official Fifty will continue with the next films, great news. I hope they do a little more with it so we can do more for the readers.
On that first day I got to meet Al Roker and got a signed copy of his new book about the 1900 Galveston hurricane. At one point I considered being a meteorologist, so I’m excited to read that. I also got a Lee Greenwood book signed for my Dad for Father’s Day. After that it was all about the romance novels!
Sylvia Day did a signing with two other authors, I’ve met her a few times at signings, she’s always very nice and said that the 5th crossfire book will be out this year.
On that first day I also met Jennifer Armentrout and Stephanie Evanovich, both were very nice ladies and in my two minutes with Stephanie were were already joking around!
Day two I got a book for my Mom and collected a lot of ARC’s (Advanced Reader Copy). I’ll never read all of them so stay tuned for opportunities to review some of these books for us.
Day 3 was awesome and I was only there half the day! First I met Abbi Glines and got my first signed book from her. She’s a sweetheart and absolutely beautiful. For some silly reason I forgot to get a picture with her, GRRRRR. Then after picking up a few other autographs I met Colleen Hoover. I met her last February at the Fans First event and totally fan girled and sounded like and idiot. So, it was nice to meet her and put together a coherent sentence. She was absolutely awesome, she new my twitter handle and she doesn’t think I’m a crazy stalker, YAY! AND, I remembered to get a picture with her.
Book Expo America was an awesome experiences. I doubt I’ll be traveling to Chicago for next years, I may try a different book conference instead. But, if you’re in the Chicago area, you should definitely look into going. It’s a great conference with tons of opportunities to see and meet authors.
