Being a huge fan of the Inside Out Series by Lisa Renee Jones, I finally got to start the spin off series with Denial while I was away. For those of you who read the Inside Out Series (and this is not a spoiler). Sara’s friend Ella goes away with her fiance and disappears. Denial is the story of what happens to Ella. Or rather, of Ella waking up with amnesia and not knowing what happened to her.
Denial starts with Ella waking up in a hospital with Kayden sitting in the room watching her. Ella has no memory of who she is or who Kayden is, but quickly finds out she’s in trouble. But who to trust? Denial takes us on that journey, where Ella slowly gets back pieces of her memories, and tries to put together who she is and why Kayden seems so familiar to her. The end has a killer cliffhanger, which brings us to Demand, the second book in Ella’s story.
Demand picks up right where Denial ended, and we get some of the answers we’re looking for. As well as some adventure. Demand tells more of the love story of Ella and Kayden, and we get many answers to who Ella is and how she ended up in that hospital room. The ending isn’t as cliffhangery, as Denial, which is for the best since Surrender, the 3rd book in the series, doesn’t come out until December. But as the reader, you know there is plenty of room for this great story to end.
Denial and Demand have a great mystery plot, integrated with a sexy romance novel. Lisa brings in some of her characters from other novels in a fun and natural way (Sara, Chris, and the Walkers’). And in October, Behind Closed Doors, will be released. Behind Closed Doors is a stand alone, loosely related book to Denial and Demand where you can learn a little bit more about Ella.
