On Friday, after watching Fifty Shades Freed, I was invited to the F I F T Y Fifty Shades Brought to Life pop up museum. This was a small exhibit, only 4 to 6 rooms, so not a large museum of items like I’ve seen from other movie museum experiences. I’m hoping this a predecessor of a full museum experience in the future.
The first room you walk into is mostly just a neon sign with the titles of the 3 books.
The next room had the chair Christian sits in when he comes home from NY and watches Ana sleep. It also has a wall of pencils, ties and a few other bits of memorabilia, like a copy of the Hawk and the Sea.
After that was a masquerade room, which was a bunch of masks, mirrored walls and lights. When it goes dark the lights reflected in a really cool way, though it didn’t remind me of the the movies.
Then it was off to the red room where many of us were flogged. I heard the Dom put on a shirt shortly after my group went through.
The final room before the singing with Erika had the wall of flowers from the wedding, a set piece I loved from the previews.
Erika did a signing in the last room which had a Laters Baby sing, copies of books in different languages, the copies that Jamie and Dakota signed and pictures hanging from the ceiling. Vanessa and I seemed to annoy one of the security people in there with our need to take a picture with the Later Baby sing. O’well!
I hope this is a sign that they will do something bigger for fans to visit and see some of the set in the future.
