My dear friend Aviva, the lovely lady who does most of the work deciphering the underlying symbols in Fifty Shades of Grey, has come up with an awesome Kickstarter project for Fifty Shades of Grey fans, a Fifty Shades of Grey Coloring book.
Not one to just create some pages you can color in of Christian and Ana, she has created an elaborate coloring book that, like Fifty Shades of Grey, means much more than just something to enjoy. Instead of trying to explain what it all means myself, I’ll let Aviva do it herself (I’ll just copy and paste it for you to read here):
50 Shades of Grey Color In Book – A book you can color in whatever shade you want because you are free, and you are you, and there is nothing wrong with more colors in this world.
Adult color in books are said to have a lot of merits: stress relief, relaxation, engagement in a worthwhile activity that due to its repetitive motions leads to a state of meditation what frees the mind and boosts creativity, a sense of accomplishment from creating something beautiful on your own with a tool in your hand. For fans it is yet another way to actively become involved in a story world they fell in love with.
This 50 Shades of Grey color in book aims to provide all that while just by getting out into the world standing up for two things so much more important than anything mentioned above:
– Freedom of Expression
– An environment free of bullying.
When it comes to 50 Shades of Grey everything is questioned from the artistic merit to the mere right to exist of book and author. The way it was and is done is beyond words. And all that while we are talking about a story that beyond the sex is about love and redemption.
I will note that a limited number of books will be created, this is because the books are created as and in the spirit of protest books, which, as Aviva writes on the Kickstarter page is normally created in limited edition. The books are not just coloring books, but a statement to those who think you’re wrong for reading and enjoying Fifty Shades of Grey.
Aviva also agreed to giveaway a copy of the coloring book. You just need to tweet this message:
On August 12th, Aviva will choose the winner randomly using TweetDraw.
I have ordered mine, I encourage you to take a look at the page and share it with your friends. The cost is 5 Euro to support it (3 post cards) or 15 Euro for the book. The prices include shipping around the world.
