According to January Jones, it is! The actress tweeted a pic of the billboard earlier Tuesday alluding to the fact that it reminded her of a poster that Mad Men used to advertise Season 4 back in 2010. The New York DailyNews posted an article about the tweet and the fact that Ms. Jones seem to be implying that the Fifty’s billboard is a copycat.
Does Mad Men have a monopoly on using the vision of a man with his back facing the viewer facing out a window? I think not! First of all, the Fifty’s Billboard is HOT! As you well know Crissy and I have in fact made the trek into Manhattan to see the billboard in person. Sure both men are standing facing a large window, but that’s where the similarity stops!
Christian is actually looking over the skyline of Seattle in the billboard, while in the Mad Men promo, the actor is actually looking out a window where there is a big building blocking his view! Obviously, Christian’s office has to be the highest floor if the building, where his view of the city is not impeded by ANYTHING!
Bottom line, the Fifty Shades billboard is hot and enticing, and something can be similar without being called copying!
I think January Jones should stick to what she knows, Mad Men, her two tweets and 4,690 Twitter followers!
