Well we never did get an official announcement, but Jennifer Ehle did comment on the film recently and confirmed she is in it. She commented on the film and Jamie to E! News. She didn’t read the books first? Interesting!
Jennifer Ehle to play Carla Adams
This was unofficially announced a few weeks ago, and we thought about posting then, but decided to hold off for official word. Then, Charlie dropped out and everyone forgot about this. It seems at this point there will be no formal announcement, but I did notice in this weekends casting call that Jennifer is listed as playing Carla Adams, so we think it’s time to tell you about her.
A little about Jennifer Ehle:
Born December 29, 1969 she’s 42 if I did my math right. Seems a bit on the young side, but I did get the impression that Carla had Ana young so not a stretch. She does look young too, but nothing a little makeup can’t fix.
She’s married to writer Michael Ryan and has 2 children.
She has a distinguished career on stage an in film, winning a BAFTA and 2 Tony’s.
She started acting young, she was in a stage production of A Street Car Named Desire in 1973!
She played Elizabeth Bennet in the TV Mini-series Pride and Prejudice, and she seems to have been popular in that role. If you’re more of a big film person you might have seen her in Contagion, Zero Dark Thirty, The Kings Speech, The Adjustment Bureau, and Ides of March to name a few. I remember her in Contagion and The Kings Speech, she did a great job in both.
Jennifer has an interesting resume from the theatre too, showing a little more range there with roles in Macbeth, A Philadelphia Story and The Real Thing.
I think she’ll be a great addition to the cast, I’m just sad that Carla isn’t in the story more.
What do you think of Jennifer Ehle as Carla?
