After working with Stephanie to help promote the Mexico City Flash Mob, I also got to know Alice and Ilse.
What is your name? Alice & Ilse
Where are you from? Mexico City
How did you come to read Fifty Shades of Grey?
Alice: I was a fan of Twilight, I read the story (not complete) when it was still a fanfiction.
Ilse: I’m kind of new on Fifty Shades. It was December 2013 when one of my cousin (girl) came to visited us for holidays and she started to talk about Fifty Shades. I had already seen the books on libraries and honestly I thought it was a kind of new story about Dorian Gray, imagine that! So ignorant of me, anyway… my cousin asked if my sister and I would read the books, after she told us a small review, and I said: ‘why not? Maybe someday’ but right after I said that, we enter to a library and she bought me the three books. I was so excited and started to read it right away. So I spent the next seven days reading one book after another.
Did you read an actual book or an ebook?
Ilse: Actual book.
Which is your favorite book in the series?
Alice: Fifty Shades Darker.
Ilse: Fifty Shades Darker.
What is your favorite scene in the series?
Alice: When he asks her to marry him (Christian submissive).
Ilse: I have so many, but the one I laughed like crazy is when Grey makes a whole scene because Ana hasn’t change her last name. It’s incredible how he visits her at her office. Love that!
How many times have you read the series?
Alice: 5 times.
Ilse: 4 times in Spanish and one in English. One week later I finished read them for the first time, I went to a library with my sister and bought the complete series in English. I couldn’t resist.
Outside of Fifty Shades of Grey, what is your favorite book, series or author?
Alice: The Chronicles of Narnia (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader).
Ilse: I love Paige Toon’s Johnny Be Good series and some of Cecelia Ahern’s books.
If you were to meet E L James today, what 2 questions would you ask her?
Alice: With what other author (apart from Sylvain Reynard) would you like to write a book?
Ilse: What does Christian think and feel after the first time with Ana? And I will thank her for making Ana a fighter and a great woman, far from being submissive. Because in many books I had read, the main girl is kind of powerless and Ana in a difficult way could resist Christian’s charm.
Have you had any unique experiences because of your love of Fifty Shades of Grey?
Alice: Not really.
Ilse: Yes so many, the first one I can tell is that I have met such incredible people like Alice, Luz, Stephanie, Bere and Jana. I have expanded my creativity making great edits I didn’t know I was able to make. Go beyond my boundaries: always find a way to make it possible, be part of the flash mob, subtitle a Jamie interview at 3am in the morning, translate seven or so Jamie’s magazines interviews in one day. Being thankful of the opportunity Alice gave to be part of our staff, and realize that doing the things you love the most is the best way to live your life even there’ll always be people talking about you.
What scene are you most looking forward to in Fifty Shades of Grey The Movie?
Alice: The dinner with the Grey family.
Ilse: The new scenes Erika and Team Fifty decided to include. I’m so excited to see the new things we weren’t aware of. The more Christian and Ana things they give the more I’ll be happy. I’m sure they have made an incredible movie. No doubt at all.
