While we were all discussing who should play Christian Grey, Brownell was quietly writing her own stories and fan fiction. But, once she emerged a few months ago, I got to know her and she’s a pretty cool girl who take the understanding of Fifty Shades of Grey to a whole new level.
What is your name? Brownell Landrum
Where are you from? Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, living in Atlanta, Georgia
How did you come to read Fifty Shades of Grey?
A friend mentioned it like “of course you know about this” and I HAD to know what I should’ve already known, didn’t I? (Oh, and I have to add, I like the wording of this question, “come to read.” LOL!
Did you read an actual book or an ebook?
Actual book, then audio book then ebook. Total immersion.
Which is your favorite book in the series?
That’s challenging to answer, but I guess the first because the ending was so powerful.
What is your favorite scene in the series?
I’m sure everyone says, “Just one?” But…if I have to choose, I’ll try to be original and also pick one of my favorite scenes…it would be at the end when Ana and Christian are making love when Ana is pregnant and she says that Phoebe likes sex already. (If you read my FF, you’ll understand even more!)
How many times have you read the series?
Countless! First as enjoyment, then as “There’s something here, I’ve got to figure this out” then as research for my book (and, now, I say knowing I sound crazy) to attempt to write the Fifty Shades Darker screenplay.
Outside of Fifty Shades of Grey, what is your favorite book, series or author?
The Bridge Across Forever by Richard Bach is always the first book that comes to mind when that question is asked, though I like lots of different books at different times for different reasons!
If you were to meet E L James today, what 2 questions would you ask her?
1 – Were you a fan of the Monkees or Davy Jones as a kid? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHGP9-xShbs
2 – Since my book looks at the soul connection and past lives of Ana and Christian, I’d want to know if she’d ever considered that they might have known each other before in a past life, and if so who, where and when might they have been?
Have you had any unique experiences because of your love of Fifty Shades of Grey?
Yes – many. I was profoundly affected by the books, not only the layers of “deeper meaning” I talk about on my blog (www.50shadesdeeper.com) but also the worldwide phenomena it became. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason and that these books have messages on many levels we can (and should) learn from. (I’m also profoundly saddened by the people who don’t “get it” and judge the books without seeing this purpose).
What scene are you most looking forward to in Fifty Shades of Grey The Movie?
The ending. The message Ana gives to Christian by leaving. That even if we love someone we can’t change them and we have to know and trust our limits.
Where can people find you on the web?
