Susan has been around for a LONG time, in Fifty Shades years, and I was surprised to realize I didn’t interview her. And then she won a giveaway and it hit me that I never did, but welcome to Susan!
What is your name? Susan
Where are you from? Orangevale, California
How did you come to read Fifty Shades of Grey?
I’d never read an erotic novel and one day in 2013 I found a copy of The Submissive by Tara Sue Me in the grocery store, started reading a few pages and was hooked. Read it and her other two books in less than two days. Then, shopping for a calendar in December 2013, I picked up a copy of Fifty Shades and was so captured by it I stayed up all night reading it. Quickly bought Darker and Freed. I fell in love with Christian and Ana!
Did you read an actual book or an ebook?
How many times have you read the series?
Straight through all three books? Three times. I continue to read parts of Fifty and Darker. I’ll read Freed again after Darker, when the film comes out.
Which is your favorite book in the series?
Darker, knickers down! 🙂
Crissy: He he
What is your favorite scene in the series?
Oh, I love when they meet, of course, but Darker contains so many of my favorite scenes: The Masquerade Ball, The shower scene when he admits he loves Ana, Christian the submissive, When she gives him the key chain that flashes YES!, and the scene when he comes back to Escala after Charlie Tango crashes. That scene will be great if James Foley directs it right. It shows so much emotion!
What is your favorite scene from Christian’s POV in Grey?
I think I like his take on the initial interview the most. She clearly affects him and he really doesn’t understand what’s happening. And, unashamedly, when he “rectifies” the situation.
Outside of Fifty Shades of Grey, what is your favorite book, series or author?
That’s almost impossible to answer! Naturally I love Erika, but there are so many talented authors out there. I think my favorite writer would be Jodi Ellen Malpas and her This Man trilogy. Jesse Ward owns me! I also love Shayla Black, C. C. Gibbs, Silvia Day and Sylvain Reynard. Too many to name, actually!
If you were to meet E L James today, what 2 questions would you ask her?
l. What inspired you to write such an incredible story?
2. How has Fifty Shades of Grey impacted your life overall?
Have you had any unique experiences because of your love of Fifty Shades of Grey?
Not necessarily unique, but I enjoy the “Chat Room” in your Mixlr sessions. All the ladies who participate sound like they’d be fun to hang out with and have a drink or two.

What was your favorite scene in Fifty Shades of Grey The Movie?
Again, tough to limit to just one. I loved the interview, the helicopter ride, gliding, but my favorite is the end scene in spite of being so heart-breaking. Both Jamie and Dakota were so in tune with their characters. I can’t imagine any other actors playing these roles. Dakota especially was just perfect and though Jamie seemed a little too off-standing early on, he seemed to “warm” up into his role as time passed. He’ll be incredible in Darker, I just know it!
What scene are you most looking forward to in Fifty Shades Darker The Movie?
Because Jamie is so outrageously good-looking and sexy, I think I’ll combust seeing him dressed in a tux and that mask at the Ball. Seeing him in full dominate mode with the yet-to-be named Leila will be a real intense scene and of course, his expression when he opens Ana’s gift and he gets his answer!
