You know a book is going to be “interesting” when the first sentence is about a penis… And with that I had no regrets about reading Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci. I’ve read several Alice Clayton books, but this was Nina’s first book, unless you count her very sexy contribution to Felony Ever After. But back to Avery and Roman Crazy.
Avery’s world has fallen apart when she walks in on her husband with his secretary (see comment about the penis above). So she did what any self-respecting woman would do, she went to Rome to visit her friend and find herself again. Except she found an old flame, Marcello.
Avery did what any self-respecting married woman, with a cheating husband would do. Actually, it was nothing like that, it was way better than that. Nina and Alice take us on a journey with her, through Rome, from art stores to restaurants to the hunt for George Clooney. In the process you’ll fall in love with it all. Seriously, I’m ready to book a trip to Rome right now, except they’ll probably fire me at work if I actually do.
Along with falling in love with Rome and all its trappings, you’ll fall in love with Marcello. Oh, dear god, Marcello. He’s everything right about Italian men, the ones that can get away with all those cheesy lines that you roll your eyes at, but they work on a man like Marcello. And then he gets you into bed. I mean Avery into bed. As for Avery’s husband, he’s cute too. But who cares? He’s a penis.
