Last week there was some surprisingly great outdoor filming, all surrounding a scene that never happened in the Fifty Shades of Grey books. Christian Grey running. Looks like more than one scene of running was filmed with one final scene of Christian running in the rain. In that scene he is running with a note and anguish on his face. It’s been theorized that maybe that will be then ending of the film. With those photos, and ones of Ana standing in the rain looking heart broken, Joyce Mostrales made an AWESOME slideshow/video on YouTube depicting that moment. I don’t suggest watching until you’ve read this whole post though.
As much as I’m really and truly enjoying the set photos and little peaks at the film, I’m wondering if, as a fandom, we’ve gone too far?
Any popular film will have some set photos released, and when you know how the movie basically goes, it doesn’t bother me to have a few get out. Gives you a chance to see how the characters are being developed, and hopefully a chance to embrace them. I’ve seen quite a few people on the fence say that Jamie and Dakota are growing on them because of the set photos.
But when is it too much? Mags and I decided not to share any of the videos that came out. We feel like that’s too far, and for many people that might spoil the movie. If you’re ok with that, then the videos are easy enough to find with a little help from Google, but we don’t want to push them on anyone.
When it was first suggested that the rain scenes are the end of the film, I had a moment of excitement, but then also a moment of, the end of the movie was just spoiled… Yes, anyone who read the books knows what happens. But part of the fun of a film is to see how they show it and bring out that emotion.
If those scenes are the end of the film, then for many people the ending of the film was just spoiled and lost a lot of its impact, and we did it to ourselves. I’m hoping there is more to the end, but I’m not counting on it either. And if that’s the case, I’m kinda sad that I let all this hype spoil the end for me.
How do you feel about all these scenes going public?
