For those of you who haven’t heard, Michael DeLuca confirmed over Twitter that Danny Elfman will be doing the score for Fifty Shades of Grey.
Danny is a little bit of a change of pace for Fifty Shades of Grey, he is not from the UK and he has a very well established career. He was born in LA in 1953. In the 1970s he and his brother, Richard, started a musical troupe in Paris, Mystic Knights of Oingo-Boingo. His work with Oingo-Boingo brought him together with a fan, Tim Burton. You may have heard of him, he’s done a couple films. That relationship has made him one of the one of the hottest composers in Hollywood. Don’t believe me, here are a few of the movies he’s done the score for:
Silver Linings Playbook, Milk, Good Will Hunting, Beetlejuice, American Hustle, Men In Black (all 3), Mission Impossible, Spy Kids, Oz The Great and Powerful.
Really, is there much better out there? He’s composed the score for 94 films across a wide range of genres.
So, even if you don’t like Jamie and Dakota, know that the musical interpretation of this film will be excellent!
